In this session, we will introduce a board game, Turing Machine, where players use logical reasoning and deduction to crack a code by asking a paper computer a series of simple quesitons. The goal is to solve the code using as few questions as possible. How well can you do? Come join us to explore an easy way to incorporate logic into the classroom, or just to have a little fun in solving a few puzzles.
Everyone knows that music is magic when it comes to memorizing new information. This is why you can still remember the jingle to a commercial you watched 20 years ago. What if you could transform your teaching content to stick in your students minds too? The focus of this session is to give you the skills to turn any content into a memorable song for instructional purposes, even if you don't know how to play an instrument yet. This session will focus on writing original songs, writing parodies, and using AI to create helpful, singable content. Additionally, the session will explore a handful of apps useful for creating video content to share with your students and families to extend learning outside of the classroom.
Walk away from this session with a better understanding of the different types of learning media (the student's own body, an object, more than one object, pictures, people etc.) and ways to support students with severe and multiple disabilities in the classroom throughout your daily schedule.
